Photon Sanctuary!!

Ya see Photon are quite terrible as an Archetype right now as they are what an Archetype should be... a smattering of mostly unrelated cards with similar naming schemes. This card barely support Photon but gives LIGHT monsters some nice buffs. It also allows for easier tribute summons for Sacred or any other LIGHT based deck. More on that after the break (Read More)

Photon Sanctuary
Spell Card
If you activate this card, this turn you cannot Summon a monster, except a LIGHT monster. Special Summon 2 "Photon Tokens" (LIGHT/Thunder-Type/Level 4/ATK 2000/DEF 0) in face-up Defense Position. These Tokens cannot attack or be used as Synchro Material Monsters.

Hmm quite simple once again but really quite indepth. The tokens can legally be tributed for Light and Darkness Dragon because it isn't LIGHT and DARK until it is fully on the field. Kristya is a great followup to this card if you just can't get enough fairies in grave you can summon Kristya using this card to surprise your opponent. It's sorta like a non-permanent valhalla that lets you reap the benefits of all LIGHT monsters and it still count as a tribute summon.

Kuraz the Light Monarch tributes one of the tokens and kills the other so you can draw 1 card if you had more on field you could draw 2. Diamond Dude activating this removes the restriction on Summoning this turn. Meaning off of Diamond Dude this card along with Kuraz and proper field destroyables can net you a free plus 1. So this card already has a nice spot in most DDT builds.

Gilford the Lightning is actually easy to play with this card. 2 of this card make instant Gilford... This card and any other special summon LIGHT makes Gilford lol. So for the cost of 3 cards you can nuke the opponents field and swing.

My favorite use is to either summon Photon Wyvern or Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon or even Different Dimension ESPer Star Robin.

I bet you all can find thousands more uses for this card than I can if you all try.

  1. I find sanctuary as being a card many lights really needed. It makes Krystia active beyond the exactly four conditions, so it never becomes a dead draw, and might even give Light and Darkness decks a new shot beyond the Raida days.

Sorry to diverge from just this card but your remark on photons, how'd your build with them go anyway, given your remark on their lackluster ability?

  2. My build went fine but they seriously have nothing to tie into each other aside from Photon Lizard and Twin Photon Lizard. Hence why they are what an Archetype should be. They are quite lackluster though... as in what can they really do... their best card is a TCG Exclusive Persona Searcher (Vanguard seeped in a bit) and the rest of their cards so far don't really do much to help them out. Next set though I won't be building Photons unless they get some new support aside from the awesome Xyz. Photon Slasher is the second best Photon though and is quite good in the right places but even then it's a Level 4 Cyber Dragon that you can summon going first. They just don't have anything right now as Konami is going to give them terrible treatment it seems...
