Tinplate Goldfish

This card from the recent DT14 is quite an interesting piece of cardboard. First and foremost this card's art is so hilariously dumb that it's actually good lol. Make sure to press Read More for the full review and how I've thought about using this card in a Water Xyz deck. It actually works...

Tinplate Goldfish
WATER
Level 4
Machine/Effect
When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 Monster from your hand.
800/2000

You'd be surprised why I'd review such a seemingly unremarkable card. I'm reviewing solely because it's a card I like. And yes aside from full set reviews I'll only ever review cards I want to review. Unless someone requests one (It must be either a new TCG Exclusive or an OCG card yet to come to the TCG and not in a Booster Set (As I review those anyway)).

First thing about this card you'll all notice is that it's level 4 and summons another Level 4 from your hand for instant rank 4 as a minus 1. woot not really. That's quite bland really. Of course you can make Black Corn and turn that Minus 1 into a 1-1 trade. Of course this all depends on what you Special Summon. First off this card unlike Goblindbergh can trigger the effects of monsters that can activate when Special Summoned... So you can summon this and drop a Gadget (BTW this is a Machine) and that Gadget can search another Gadget... then you overlay and suddenly you went from 6 cards in hand to 4 cards in hand and 2 on field and then 5 cards in hand and 2 on field. if you overlay it becomes a fully free Xyz Summon. If that Xyz happens to be Black Corn or one of the other Rank 4's that net you a plus 1 at will you can plus 1 from an Xyz summon.

Of course that's not all there is to this card. First off it's WATER meaning... Goldfish>Goldfish Overlay for Hope... If Hope Dies you can use Salvage and do it again... Salvage is what really makes this card good. Salvage essentially lets you turn this card into a Rank 4 Toolbox on it's own. But there are some more interesting things this card can do with that. Goldfish>Gishki Avance... Avance can then put Gishki Beast on top of the deck... Then you Overlay for any Rank 4 that can Detach the Avance without shuffling your deck... next turn drop Gishki Beast and let loose some series havoc. Another thing is only a Water Based Xyz deck can use Dimensional Fissure and Salvage in the same deck without conflict because Xyz don't care about D.Fissure. So now that you know Salvage plays and Gishki plays. (Gishki Beast>Gishki Avance>Beast on Top> Make Black Corn or Hope or something of that sort. Next turn do it again.)

So now we have a veritably indestructible Xyz Engine all we need now is an Xyz that acts like Archfiend Oath and the game will be dumb as all get out (Imagine the combos...)

But of course this cards uses don't stop there. A Water Xyz deck is quite interesting and all but this card is also quite useful for any level 4 monster that can do something when it isn't Normal Summoned... Tinplate>Sacred Crane is the same as Tinplate>Gadget... So Imagine... A Rank 4 Xyz deck... Using Tinplate Goldfish, Goblindberg, Summoner Monk, Sacred Crane and Gadgets. Quite interesting no?

This card allows you to Normal Summon and make a Rank 4 and sometimes even plus... If only there were a way to ensure you can do that every game... Well in Water Xyz we run Moray of Greed. Other decks will have to rely on just drawing him early on. He's by no means godly or anything just a really nice generic Machine Water card... ugh don't get me started on the sheer amount of plays you can do...

Well in the meantime you can use Skreech or Foolish Burial to put him in grave and then Salvage him to hand. But of course the better more useful idea is to make him not a major piece of the deck... my Water Xyz runs Gishki Erial, Gishki Avance, and Gishki Beast as an Xyz Engine on it's own. Mother Grizzly and Erial serve essentially the same purpose except one is a Gishki and the other isn't.

Well think what you will this was the second Card Review of the month. This month of reviews will stop around the 28th hence why I started on the 28th of January as Feburary has an extra day I didn't calculate into my planning.
