Zenzen Zenmai!!!

In other words Completely Mainspring!!! or Entirely Mainspring or even Spring At All. And that is what I will call all Mainspring Decks from now on that is the new official name forever!

Just today I built a proxy deck using Mainspring cards (3 of each revealed for simplicity's sake just to see how good they are) in place of any themed or specific cards in my Karakuri Morphtronic deck.  Note: I used this deck against my friends Plasma Control deck (he scooped too early for a good test... Only summoned an Exceed once because I forgot I proxied those as well lol.)

The first Mainspring on the chopping block is the lone warrior, the strong and valiant, the one time wonder, the white void... Okay not Hakumen... MAINSPRING SOLDIER!!!
Mainspring Soldier

Warrior/Effect
During your Main Phase, you can activate this card's effect. Until the End Phase, this card gains 400 ATK, and its Level is increased by 1. This effect can only be activated once while this card is face-up on the field.

Well it's Earth and thats nice and all but not important. It's Level 4 meaning it and Mainspring Magician become any Rank 4 Exceed hopefully Mainspring Armored Zenmeister (Yes this is a Japanese play on words). The best part about this card is that it and Mainspring Dog after using their effects can make a Rank 5 Exceed (Will be reviewed tomorrow). So far I'd say you need 2-3 of this card in a Mainspring deck until more useful level 4 Mainspring's are released.

You can only activate this effect during your Main Phase. Until the End Phase, this card's level is increased by 2, and it gains 600 ATK. While this card is face-up on the field, this effect can only be activated once.

Well this one is also obviously Earth but Level 3 so it can't Exceed with it's best friend until they both use their effects to make a Rank 5 Exceed Monster. A 1800 level 5 can be pretty epic... Cyber Dragon and this make an instant Rank 5 Exceed meaning the card I'm reviewing tomorrow after locals (Sadly no proxies). It also has the same "once while face-up" drawback as the other Mainspring base monsters. If Rescue Cat was still around this card could be potentially dangerous... Two of these for an instant and free Rank 5 Exceed. I'd say 1-2 in Mainsprings due to how much Mainsprings can search and the fact that it's the only card in the archetype so far that can Exceed with an activated Mainspring Soldier.

Well the first thing that stands out is that this is oddly a WIND monster (Did you really think they would all be Machines and Earth or something when you heard Mainspring and Zenmeister). It's also a Psychic meaning that Psychic is now officially a type and not an archetype. 1700 is a modest attack stat for the effect. This card can destroy any 1 defense position monster or wall your opponent plays. I think it also can use this effect when destroyed by battle if so that's just a little too awesome (Note: this is a psychic monster). Oh and anyone else like Falcon Punch a little more now (Mist Valley Falcon can rebounce this so it can be summoned to use it's effect again...). The drawback is negligible with some of Mainsprings funny support that back in the day would be bad bad bad... run 3 of this in Mainsprings...

5/5 Mainsprings (Their stats aren't all that good and without Zenmeister they can't run over much except for Soldier).

Sigh will this thing move any faster... it's on freaking tank treads yet it's as slow as a snail... WAIT... this is a snail... an Aquatic Tank Mechanized Water Snail of Cuteness (I want one!!) Or just Mainspring Snail!!

Sigh seriously Earth, Earth, Earth, Wind, Water, I'd bet 100000000 dollars the next is Fire (Please take this bet I need the guaranteed cash). Well this can be used in a Water deck if you really wanted it outside of Mainsprings where it can be tool-boxed. Level 2 means two of it for a Gantetsu but thats about it... It's selling point though is the free bounce of any set card normally a monster which can possibly be game if you bounced like a Spy or something and then used the next reviewed monster to summon something else to Exceed for something like Zenmeister... Honestly I really wish this card said any one card it would make it so much more useful and it's level doesn't help it much outside of Junk Synchron and Angel Lift... 0-1 of this card in Mainsprings...

2/5 General Use (Useable but sorta pointless when you have better cards)
2/5 Mainsprings (Can possibly be game if used at the right time but otherwise once a new Mainspring is revealed or released this gets replaced first unless it's a level 2 Mainspring.)

BLACK BURNING!!! Well I got one thing right it is Fire and although it's not Black Magician Girl it is a magician it might even be female hopefully it has a skirt of some sort...

Words cannot express how needed this card is for Mainsprings... It brings them together more than anything... It literally is a Summoner Monk that activates when any other Mainspring activates... Have a unused Mainspring Snail set from last turn... Summon this and flip it search for any level 1-4 Mainspring and get an instant Exceed. while keeping a monster along side it. I'd personally get Zenmeister for some fun combos... Actually I wonder if Zenmeister flips this face-down does it activate? probably if so time for some shenanigans. 600 Attack slips under Trap Hole... but not Chain Disappearance :sadface... Run 3 of this in any Mainspring based deck...
1/5 General Use: Only worthwhile in Mainsprings...
5/5 Mainspring: Necessary to get things rolling and to pull off Exceeds faster. There is really nothing bad about this card for Mainsprings.

All face-up "Mainspring" monster you control are changed to face-down Defense Position.


So simple yet so layered in use... Self-Instant Book of Eclipse with no draw is pretty good... Zenmeister runs into Mirror Force... Flip it and it survives. Flip a used juggler during your opponents End Phase to use it again your Mainphase... Flip a previously summoned and used Mainspring Magician and the monster it summoned... reflip them and go to town with two Exceeds... Flipping Snail back face-down to force your opponent to run into a 2000 wall is fun as well... Run 1-3 of this up to you. Also makes all your Mainsprings instantly turn into chump blockers.

See simple even though it's only once per turn no matter how many you have out it's still ridiculous... Mainspring Magician and any Mainspring with this means Search 1 and Special Summon 1 leading to more and more advantage over time. and eventually a near infinite stream of Mainspring monsters. Run 2-3 of this card in Mainsprings please...


1/5 General Use: DUH if you use this outside of Mainsprings kill yourself...

I like wrenches are cool and all but the best wrench there is must be the single monster limiter removal OVER WRENCH!!!! The funny thing is that it has nothing to do with the physical tool a wrench but rather to twist like you would a spring-based windup toy.

Activate by selecting 1 face-up "Mainspring" monster. The ATK and DEF of the selected monster are doubled, and it is returned to the owner's hand during the End Phase of this turn. Only 1 "Over Wrench" can be activated per turn.

Sigh this card is hilarious... Doubles ATK anddddd DEF meaning 4000 Def Snail and 4400 Attack Soldier or 5000 ATK Zenmeister... (During the Main Phase 2 flip it face-down to keep it)... It also enables reuse of Mainspring monster by bouncing them... It has no drawback except you can't OTK with two of them like we all want to. Though you can OTK with this and Limiter Removal on Zenmeister. Run 1-2 of this just for the surprise.

4/5 Mainsprings: Great card here use it for the surprise boost and instant pwnage (Destroyed a Plasma Equipped with Grinder Golem with this...)
