Photon Shockwave Review 4

This time I'm doing a Spell Card Only Review!!!

FIRST CARD: It seems we've done this one before!!
Attack Regulation

Continuous
If your opponent controls 3 or more monsters, your opponent cannot declare an attack.


This card is hilarious against a deck that swarms in order to win... All that swarm suddenly becomes useless because of no damage... This card can be used to good effect occasionally. It also restricts your opponent to 2 monsters if they want to attack.

Quick-Play
When a monster declares an attack, you can activate this card by selecting 1 face-up monster on the field. The selected monster gains 1000 ATK until the End of the Battle Phase.


Alright this also can work as a Kalut of sorts. So when someone swings at you they could easily lose their monster and some points... In other words anyone remember back when Rush Recklessly was nearly a staple in every deck lol. If the game went back to slower formats like that it would possibly be more useful. I might run it in the X-Saber Six Samurai deck I've been asked to build lol.

Normal
Select 1 face-up monster you control, and remove from play 1 monster in your Graveyard with the same Level as the selected monster. Afterwards, draw 1 card. Reveal that card, and if it has the same Level as the selected monster, Special Summon it.


This card has received some positive criticism from other blogs and I may have to do the same... If you think about it... Tengu on field... Remove Tengu in Grave... draw 1... If it's a Level 4 Like Rai-Oh Special Summon it... Makes me think to build Anti Tengu Beat lol. No matter what though if you activate this card it is a 1 for 1 no matter what. In my deck... Debris Dragon in Grave Summon Tengu... RFG Debris and draw 1... if it's another Tengu it's no longer dead... if it's another Debris I can Xyz for Hope... There's also the fact that this card has no Level Restriction so... Red-Eyes Darkness Metal on field RFG a Level 8 Dragon in grave and draw 1... if it's a Level 8 Special Summon it... Kageki on field and Kageki in Grave draw 1... if you happen by some fluke to get another Level 3 you are happy...

NEXT: Wow sometimes there are some semi-useless cards that are better versions of older semi-useless cards.

Normal
Activate by selecting 2 face-up Attack Position monster with the same ATK. During this turn, 1 of the selected monster can attack your opponent directly and the other selected monster cannot attack.

This card could be a lot better if the other monster could still attack... but oh well... Airbellum x2 I guess could work to some good effect.




NEXT: How situational could they have made it...
Xyz Gift

Activate only if you control 2 or more face-up Exceeds Monster. Remove 2 Exceeds Material Monster from your side of the field, and draw 2 cards.

UGH!!! Why did it have to only usable for having 2 or more Xyz... That's unnecessary neutering... It's best use is now in Offering Gadget where at least you can ensure if you are winning you have multiple Xyz...


NEXT: This card received so much praise until it was revealed that it was a minus 1 and had a steeper requirement than before...
Photon Veil

Normal
Return 3 LIGHT Monster in your hand to your Deck, and add up to 3 Level 4 or lower LIGHT Monster from your deck to your hand. If you add 2 or more Monsters to the hand, they must have the same name.

I've used this card in Watts before and it gave me 3 Watt King Cobra instead of 1 Cobra... 1 Plasma Ball and 1 Wattpheasant. But Watts can easily afford the minus thanks to Watt King Cobra and Watt Cancel being insured to have a payable cost. and Recycling Batteries can recoup your discards to plus you in exchange for the minus from Photon Veil... In Fableds this card can get you 3 Grimro and Fableds generally run a good bit of monsters so can be used really well there. This card in Agents can work to return Shine Balls and such for 3x Earth. It's still a good card just not as rediculous as we hoped...

NEXT: Hmm I've heard this card can be really good even though in most cases it's not as good as it could be.

Quick-Play
Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower LIGHT Monster from your hand into face-up Attack Position.

Interesting... so during anytime during your turn or your opponents turn you can activate this card to Special Summon any level 4 or LOWER LIGHT monster... First thought you would have is Daybreaker but what about Special Summoning out Thunder King Rai-Oh in response to the activation of a Search Effect? Or in Response to your opponent preparing for a large Synchro Summon... Hmm I'm getting more ideas for my Anti Tengu Beat.
NEXT: Use a Fire Stone to get Booster/Flareon
Photon Booster

Normal
Activate by selecting 1 face-up Level 4 or lower LIGHT Non-Token Monster. The ATK of the selected monster and face-up monster(s) with the same name becomes 2000 until the End Phase.

Sigh why did it have to be Non-Token Monsters... Cybernetic Magician OTK wasn't that scary so why not make a Spell Card version with no cost lol... But alas it's still not that bad.

Fate of Evolution
Spell Card
Continuous
When a Monster is successfully Special Summoned by the Effect of an "Evoldo" Monster, your opponent cannot activate the effects of Magic, Trap or Effect Monster Cards.

This card would be better if it said your opponent couldn't respond to their summons... but it still protects them all from Bottomless and other such cards. I'd run 1 or 2 in the deck... but Forbidden Lance and Chalice is better...

Miracle of Evolution
Spell Card
Quick-Play
Activate by selecting 1 Monster Special Summoned by the Effect of a "Evoldo" Monster. During this turn, the selected monster cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.

Yum!!! This card is better than the above due to the element of surprise... And that it can make your opponent waste removal and such. It also makes Gephairos a safer play.


And that's all for today I'll do the rest of the Spells the day after tomorrow (Gotta make a Saber Sam deck) and then begin on the Trap Cards...
